About the Facilitator

Barbara Dieu (a.k.a. Bee or Bee Kerouac)

I am Brazilian and teach EFL (English as a Foreign Language) at the Franco-Brazilian school in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I find the possibility of learning, networking and collaborating on the Web as fascinating and exciting as I did in 1997, when I first connected my secondary classes to others abroad. Since then I have been actively involved in various national and international communities of practice like for instance the Webheads in Action and TALO (Teach and Learn Online).

I have published and been interviewed on the use of new technologies in teaching and learning, given a number of workshops and presentations on social tools both f2f and online and am presently collaborating on the Dekita project, through which we advocate participatory uses of Web applications in ELT (English Language Teaching).

I am fluent in 4 languages: Polish, Portuguese, English and French and have a good understanding of Spanish. I am a self-taught and passionate photographer and weekend cook.

My main areas of interest are planning and organizing projects and the uses of ICT in the areas of training, interaction, knowledge acquisition and information transfer so as to promote and improve communication, creativity and global understanding.

Slideshare/ slidecast presentations can be embedded on pages of many social software spaces such as wikis and blogs.

Competition Aim

In 2007 all LearnScope projects are required to engage learners and to capture the impact and outcomes of their learning for students/clients. The aim of this competition is to enable individual team members to provide a personal snapshot of what this impact has been.

The resulting products will be used to celebrate our NSW achievements and to report our outcomes to a range of stakeholders.

How to Enter

Conditions

1. To accept any prize you must abide by your organisations policy and procedures for receiving prizes as an employee of that organisation. NSW LearnScope provides no advocacy on this issue.

2.You MUST be a registered NSW LearnScope participant in 2007.

3.No more than 8-10 slides - three (3 ) minutes audio maximum.

4. Your slideshare MUST speak of engagement, solutions and outcomes; the impact your learning and new ways of working have had to address the particular needs of the learners you work with.

5. Prizes are not refundable nor can they be exchanged for any other item. Some project teams will be governed by policy that restricts the value of work-related prize winnings. It will be the responsibility of prize winners to investigate this and to meet policy requirements. Prizes have been selected which can be used by teachers and teams within the workplace.

Submitting Your Entry

Send the link to your entry on Slideshare to Robyn.Jay@det.nsw.edu.au or Alexander.Hayes@det.nsw.edu.au

Entries must be received by 26 October 2007.

Winners will be announced and presented at the E-Learning07 event to be held on the 1st and 2nd of November 2007.

Who Is This Competition for ?

This competition is for any registered NSW LearnScope team member ..........of any team - not restricted to managers nor facilitators.

EVERYONE has the chance by creating a Slidecast to win a prize and not only that - your creations will be online and see and linked to from everywhere in the world.

Why Slidecast ?

Remember the days when powerpoints used to be the way of all front of house presentations ? Did you fall asleep through any of them ?

I bet you did. A slidecast allows others to share in your presentation creations as well as giving you the opportunity to extend your networks both socially and professionally.

Here at NSW LearnScope headquarters we realise that while people prepare things to show others they are now thinking more creatively, globally and with reason behind their presentations. This has lead to a real revolution in the way we can prepare resources for others to use.
