In September 2004, USAID awarded a Task Order to John Snow, Inc. (JSI) under the Maternal & Child Health Technical Assistance and Support Contract (TASC II) to implement the two-year Albania Family Planning Project 2004-2006.
The purpose of the project is to improve family planning in Albania.
The Albania Family Planning Project (AFPP) will focus on sixteen (16) target districts in which approximately 500 providers will be trained in family planning. A new feature of this JSI project is the training of selected community midwives, thus extending FP services to the community level.
In addition to FP training, AFPP will assist the MOH to ensure the availability of contraceptives (contraceptive security) and to increase awareness of FP in these same sixteen districts.
