Most news web sites and blogs carry 'news feeds'. These news feeds can be added to your page, so that you can see at a glance the headlines from all of your favorite news sites. When you click on any of the headlines, a window appears which will show you all of the headlines for that particular news feed. By clicking the launch button (A), your web browser will open a new window showing you the original article at the news site that provides the feed.

Some news feeds provide 'full content', meaning that you can read the entire article without leaving your Protopage, as in the example below.
A: Headline list
Lists the headlines for the news feed you are currently reading
B: Article view
Displays the article you are currently reading
C: Keyboard shortcuts
Hover here to see a list of keyboard shortcuts that will allow you to speed through all of your news headlines just by tapping keys on your keyboard.
D: Launch article
Opens a new window containing the article web page from the site the news feed comes from.
E: Close button
Click this to close the news reader and return to your page.

Note that you can hover your mouse over news feed widgets, and you will see a preview of the news story before you click it (A). After you read a news headline, it will appear crossed out in grey (B) so that you can see at a glance which stories are new and which stories you've already read.

Protopage also supports audio podcast news feeds. If you add an audio feed to your page, you will see a number of play buttons (A) which you can click to hear the podcast.

Protopage supports cartoon news feeds. These allow you to see the cartoons directly on your page. You can find cartoon feeds in the news feed directory when you click 'Add widgets' on the toolbar at the bottom of your page.

Protopage supports video podcast news feeds. These allow you to see video podcasts directly on your page. Click the 'play' button to play the video.
