5 Year Plan

I joined the Ground Committee in the 1990\s after experiencing the fiasco of the 8th green build. As it was the 15 was a pretty little feature green. I watched one day as the green staff were pulling the guts out of our new tractor removing the tree stump.

i was playing with Ian entwistle - a good golfer and sain - have you heard what is next. They are going to change the first - they are going to lower the green to the level of the stream and create a pond in front of it.

I joined the committee - working with Simon Andrew was a nightmare - he would not do any planning, would not work on a 5 year plan and would not sanction a procedure manual.

I insisted that the only work to be done on the first was to lift the turf and create a chippiing green, put a path around the back of trees to relieve compaction at the front of the green. Root trim the tree - apply root zone to the same contours as the first green had with the small bulge front left. And finally plan for a new tee - a tiger tee.

Simon came up with stupid ideas on paths - I refused to sanction them as they were a cost not required - we could leave the first 70 yards of each hole as wild flower meadow.

I purchased a book on Golf Architecture and had read articles on golf clubs managing their rough to become links rough - the processes thakes 3 years.

I purchased 100 railway sleeper out of my own pocket - Simon would not sanctioned the spend to transport them to WGC - it would have saved WGC thousands of pounds long term.

I had an agree ment with Parkers the plant nursery in Trafford Park to buy off there end of season stock in shubs and bulbs and invested £300 to get a huge amount.

Simon did not sanction the planting and they went to waste - members were alowed to take them - they were stored at the front of the club house.

The sadess thing that upsets me is that I grew on 6 ornamental chestnut tree to about six foot - I brought them to the club with a good root structure and laid them in the pond - they never got planted.

It was sad - I had a good working relationship with Stuart Bridge as I do with Gary. I used to donate a week of my annual holidays working for stuart as an artisan - Himalayan Balsom Bashing and Tree Pruning. When playing golf I carried pruning sheers and used to keep down sucker - I am sure it annoyed the green staff having to pick up my cuttings !

Peter Houghman was recruited to ground in a bid to over rule me - to he credit Peter took my side and we insisted on seeing plans.

The action Simon took was sad - he went to board to get approval to stop having meeting.

Recently i have been talking to Gary to ask him about the new pond and commended him on his workshop.

I asked Gary about the concept of turning a percentage of the course over to link meadow and he agreed that there were area of the course where this could be done - but the concern is with the seniors not being able to reach the fairway.

I was shocked to find that we still do not have a five year plan.

There has been talk for many years to change the layout of the course  to start on the first go to the second then cross the stream and have a path to the 6th. Finishing on the 4th with a Mezzanine over the patio over looking the green.

Gary also said that he did not have a Mechanic and did not have a strategy for machine failure.

I enjoy talking to Gary - he is a good man. I am going to write a few systems for him.

I am going to write a payroll front end system with an interface to sage accounting for Casuals / Zero Hours Contracts / Artisans / Garden Guardians and Time Bank Workers.

I will create a Timebank Time Recording System and create an Operations Cost Control Formulae for a Time Tracker and Productivity Bonus Scheme.

I will present Feasibility Studies and Design Specifications by Design House Before any Expense is incurred but before these documents are produced the programming will be completed by Foundation Consulting using Google Forms so that Council Can see what sort fo Small Business Intranet they will be purchasing.

The cost to commence this process is just £60 for domain name registration and hosting.
I have an annual budget of £1200 to spend at the club - I will take onboard the cost and oitsourse the build of a Quiz for Finance / Ground / Golf

With regards to web development I have volunteered my services to operate under James - he has advised me that this will not commence untill the winter.

I assume that as he has announced it in his weekly newsletter that there is a budget for this project.
Could you please let me know what the budget is.
Thank You.
