Her mother home schooled her, most of her childhood and at age 16 she went to Ms. Dryden’s finishing school in Paris to study singing and piano. She was an accomplished pianist but her stage fright and shyness prevented her from having a career in music.

Siblings, mother, and father

Her Dad’s name was Fredrick Alvah Miller, and was a rich stockbroker. Her mom was Clarissa Margaret Boehmer, and was the daughter of an English army captain. Agatha did grow up with servants and had a sister and brother. Her sisters name was Margaret Frary Miller and was 11 years older then her. Her brother was named Louis Montant Miller and was Ten years older then her.

Husbands

In 1913 she got married to her first husband Colonel Archibald. It was an unhappy marriage though. They had a child together in 1919 and her name was Rosalind Hicks. He decided to divorce Agatha in 1928 because he was in love with another woman. This happened two years after she discovered her husband was having an affair. During there marriage she wrote her first novel “The Mysterious Affair at Styles.” In 1930 she got remarried to archaeologist Sir Max Mallowan and he was 14 years younger then her. They had a very happy marriage even though in the future he has many affairs. He actually ends up marrying one of the women he cheated on Agatha with, the year after she dies.

During world war one she was a nurse for a red cross hospital. In 1955 she was the first person to receive the Grand Master Award which is the highest honor with the Mystery Writers of America.She got an Edgar Award for Witness for the Prosecution for Best Play Most of her short stories and books have been filmed Others have been adapted for television, radio, video games and comics.

Writings

She wrote novels, short stories, plays, and also some romances under the name Mary Westmacott. She is most remembered though for her 80 detective novels. Some of her stories, she is one of the most important and innovative writers in the development of the genre.
