Henry Conway

• Henry Conway was a delagate to the U.S House of Representatives. 
• He was a member of The Family.
• Born near Greeneville Tennessee.
• Mortaly wounded during a duel with Robert Crittende, and died three days later.
• After Robert shot Henry the toothbrush in Henry's pocket splintered and caused an infection.

• George Izard

• William Fulton was born June 2, 1795 in Cecil Maryland.
• He was an American lawyer and politician from Little Rock Arkansas.
• He served as Governor of the Arkansas Territory and United States Senator for Arkansas
• He graduated from Baltimore College in 1813.
• After the War of 1812, he moved to Gallatin, Tennessee

Robert Crittenden 1797-1834

• The first secretary and acting governor of Arkansas.
• He moved the capitol from Arkansas Post to Little Rock.
• He was born in Woodruff County.
• He challenged Henry Conway to a duel and injured him with the first shot. Henry Conway then died several weeks later.
• Became a lawyer and died defending a case.

John Pope 1770-1845

• He became governor of Arkansas in 1829.
• Served as U.S. senator from 1798 to 1842.
• Part of the Whig party.
• Born in Kentucky.
• Had one of his arms amputated.

• "The Family"- A group of men finally formed to oppose Crittenden and his supporters.
• It consisted of members of the  Conway, Sevier, Johnson, Rector, and Ashley families.
• They were all related to eachother by birth or marrage.
• The differences between the two groups based primarily on personal viewpoints and ambition.
• The growing feud came out in the open in the eletion of 1827.
• They supported the democratic party.
• The Family backed Henry W. Conway.
• The Crittenden group in Arkansas joined the party opposing Jackson, which came to be called the Whig Party.

• The Trail of Tears was the forced relocation of Native American.
• It happenned in 1838-1839. It was called that because the people faced hunger, diesease, and exhaustion.
•  Over 14,000 out of 15,000 Cherokees died.
• oVER PERIOD OF SEVERAL YEARS, THE iNDIANS MIGRATED TO oKLAHOMA UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF
