SPELLING PRACTICE with the Phonics Program in ReadyGEN

WELCOME TO SPELLING HOMEWORK PRACTICE. Your child will have a list of words for Spelling each week. The most important thing is for your child to learn the focus skill or pattern and then to apply the skill to words we find in our reading and writing lessons.

We have our subscription to Premium Activities at SPELLING CITY! CLICK HERE TO LOG IN WITH YOUR VERY OWN SCREEN NAME AND PASSWORD. Students will be learning their passwords at school by the end of the 3rd week or will be bringing home a copy of their password card from school. Thank you so much, Parents, for your patience as we learn our passwords and user names.

6 STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS

SIX STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS!

Six Strategies for Success!

1. Learn to use this webpage for studying Spelling List each week. See the gray box to the right for web sites. Practice 2-3 times per week to master your spelling and vocabulary words. Weekly Test on Thursdays. Vocabulary tests start in November.
2. Math Facts Practice - practice online (I KNOW THAT  STUDY JAMS or look for Subtraction Game and Practice here . Also Bite Size is a great site for everyday practice for all skills levels.)

3. To print a math practice sheet at  home, use Math Facts Cafe or  SUPERKIDS or Multiplication.com or About.com or Lizard Point

4. Reading Log due every Thursday.
You will need to work to complete 100 minutes each week!

Your school library books will come home Thursday evenings to be kept at home to read for your log.

5.  Special Website - Each student has their own account at             I KNOW  THAT.COM.  Please see your password card for your account information to log on.  This is a premium website for Math, Reading and Language Arts practice.

6. All of these ideas are choices for your child to become successful on their weekly tests.  Students will learn over time to use what is helpful and complete what is necessary for mastery.

Thank you so very much, parents, for your guidance as students learn to find mastery in their learning. Your support always makes a big difference in your child's school day.

INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR CHILD'S DAY

Library Day
Library Time is a  special event at Oak School and a favorite time of the day! Please help your your child to remember to return their book so that Library Day means FINDING AND GETTING A NEW BOOK! Bring library book every Thursday.

PE and Shoes
We so look forward to our PE days. Part of the success of this event it the right shoes. Please have your child wear comfortable athletic-type shoes. Actually Tennies are appropriate most days, please, for playground fun!

Class Newsletters
Our class newsletter comes out on Fridays about 2 or 3 times a month. Your child will bring it home in their Take Home Folder on Fridays.

More information on the HOMEWORK IDEAS TAB ABOVE.

But generally, on FRIDAYS- READING LOGS COME HOME. Due the next Thursday. Our goal is 100 minutes per week.

Spelling Tests are each Thursday. Spelling Lists come home on Fridays in the your child's Take Home Folder.

What can I do to help my child to learn?

PARENTS: All of these ideas are choices for your child to become successful on their weekly tests. Students will learn to use what is helpful and complete what is necessary for Spelling mastery (70-80%). Thank you for all your support as you supervise your child at home the first few months and work with them on getting a routine in place! It really does make all the difference in your child's work and motivation at school! If your child has a consistent routine in place at home that you make them accountable for, then when they arrive at school, they will not struggle to get on board with their teacher! I look forward to watching for that to happen! Thank you again for your consistent efforts!
